Birds of Prey Science Presentation

Today in Junior Infants we were super lucky as we got an exciting visit from Barn owl birds.

We learned a lot about Barn owl birds, the barn owl makes almost no noise when it flies. This means it is able to hear the smallest sounds made by its prey hidden in the ground while the owl is flying up to three metres overhead.

Some of us were even brave enough and lucky enough to get to hold the birds.

It was a very exciting day for all of the Junior Infants.

Visit from Dog's Trust

We had a very special visitor in today from Dog's Trust. We learned lots of things we need to do to make sure a dog is happy and healthy. We really enjoyed meeting 'Magic' today!

Dance

Some of Junior Infants are having lots of fun at our Dance classes with Kevin.

Jack and the Beanstalk Aistear

Jack has been frantically typing up an apology email to the giant in which he says sorry for breaking into his castle and asks the giant to forgive him. We hope that the giant checks his emails! 😃

The giant has a very big appetite and he's been in our role play area eating all of the food in Jack's cottage. Jack and his Mum do not enjoy getting unexpected visitors but once he doesn't take the magic harp or golden hen back they will be happy to let him stay.

With our lego blocks we have also been building our own versions of the beanstalk and Jack's cottage.

We have also been making golden coins, magic beans and some food for the magic hen to eat with our play dough.

Here is Jack climbing up to the top of the beanstalk.

Magnets

In Junior Infants, we have been exploring which items in the classroom were magnetic. We had great fun experimenting! 'It was like magic'

Planting seeds!

In Junior Infants, we have been planting cress seeds to represent the beanstalk in our story. We had great fun planting the seeds and now we need to wait for them to grow!

In Junior Infants this week we have started a new story; Jack and the Beanstalk.
We really enjoyed learning about this story even though it is a little bit scary!

We decided to try and grow our own magic beanstalks in room 1,2,3 & 4. We are looking forward to seeing how they grow. Hopefully we don't get any giants in our classroom though!

The Daily Mile Initiative

As if Junior Infants wasn't stressful enough! This week we have started the daily mile initiative.

The aim of The Daily Mile is to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children – regardless of age, ability or personal circumstances.

We have been walking, jogging and running with our class and we have been running super fast! We think that the 4 Junior Infants classes might even be the quickest runners in the whole school!
